Arrest Made Following Deadly Western Mass Crash

Police arrested a man for vehicular homicide in connection to a motor two-car crash that killed one person in Massachusetts.

Hampden County resident Javier Morales, age 34, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 26 by the Ludlow Police in connection with a crash that took place on Sunday, Aug. 22.

According to Chief Daniel Valadas, of the Ludlow Police, officers were called to the serious multi-vehicle crash on 177 Chapin Street in Ludlow with injuries. 

Victims involved in the crash were taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.

A male passenger had to be extricated from one of the vehicles. He was also taken to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 

Morales, of Ludlow, was charged with:

  • Homicide by reckless operation
  • Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
  • Speeding greater than reasonable
  • Improper passing
  • Marked lane violation

Ludlow police along with Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash.
